There cannot be a debate on this matter that Internet has revolutionized the way people listen to music. Many young music lovers are subscribing for file sharing programs and peer-to-peer music download programs to download music that is illegal. Such programs have replaced a local music as the dominant supplier for the latest hits. The major concern is with the entire crop of youngsters coming up with the notion that to get your favorite music “don’t buy” “just download it”.
You might be thinking what this means to the future of downloading music? Are people responsible for stopping such acts taking some serious action against it or not?
Well the answer is yes, to curb down online music piracy, the AFM and the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) and other groups have initiated a comprehensive movement. The most important agenda for this movement will be to spread awareness in the common public about the effects of downloading music and music piracy on the music industry. Also, they want to educate people about music piracy.
RIAA has launched a serious counter attack on the offenders by issuing subpoenas to the most atrocious online copyright infringers. The AFM has been giving complete support to the RIAA in pursuing legal implication on anyone who contributes in anyway to online music piracy. It is not an easy decision to make but it was the last possible option left in front of them to sue music fans and music lovers who contribute to piracy by downloading illegal music.
Future of downloading music might not be as rosy as it looks for its owners, specially now when RIAA and AFM have initiated such serious measures to stop online music piracy.
